The jury in the trial of a man suspected of raping four girls in the grounds of a Cheam church where he ran a youth club, has retired to consider its verdicts.
William Lambert of Malden Road, Sutton, is alleged to have raped four girls, aged between 11 and 15, in the churchyard shed over several years between 1985 and 1990.
The 74-year-old denies three charges of sexual assault while working as a groundsman and gravedigger at St Dunstan’s Church, Cheam.
