A mother-of-four has been trying for nine years to get the council to fix a crumbling wall which has now started to shift.

Jackie Thomas, 45, of Keymer Road, Streatham Hill, has seen the back wall of her maisonette “falling to pieces” over the past nine years.

Mrs Thomas said she hadcontacted Lambeth Living (LL) several times, but each time a surveyor visited her property, she was told she needed a structural surveyor instead.

According to Mrs Thomas, LL never sent a structural surveyor and every time she asked there was no record of a request for one.

She said: “This has been going on for nine years now.

“I don’t know how much more of it I can take.

“You can notice the wall is shifting now and I’m getting a bit frightened, because it looks like it may collapse so I’m fearing for the safety of my children.”

A spokeswoman for Lambeth Living said: “The wall has been inspected and is structurally sound – it is not in danger of collapsing.

“Some repairs were carried out earlier this year to prevent further damage and we continue investigations to identify the cause of the damage.

“We are sorry for any concern Mrs Thomas may have experienced while waiting for the work to go ahead.”
