A fun day and raffle hosted by Specsavers in Leatherhead has raised more than £500 for the Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity.

The charity, based in Leatherhead, provides vital support to up to 1,000 families every year coping with seriously ill children throughout their diagnosis, treatment and sometimes bereavement.

Staff joined in the celebrations by wearing their most glamorous attire with dispensing optician Naren Pankhania showing up in full Indian traditional dress for the day.

Prizes donated by local businesses included a jewellery voucher from ZigZag in Epsom, a family day-pass for the Outlook Discovery Centre in Bracknell, a huge toy ball from Toy Barnhaus store in Epsom and a family ticket to the Chessington World of Adventures.

Specsavers store manager Liz Cole said: “It’s been fantastic to see the community unite in aid of such an important local charity and we cannot thank our customers enough for being so generous.

The Rainbow Trust is an amazing charity that provides support for families of children with life threatening or terminal illnesses.

They rely almost entirely on donations so every penny literally helps, and the local charity definitely has a special place within the hearts of all residents.”
