Ten new beds for patients receiving dementia care have been opened at a Wallington care home.
The Newlands unit at Ryelands Care Home in Beddington Gardens, was officially opened by Care Minister Paul Burstow on May 6.
Mr Burstow was met by the home’s manager, Linda Humphreys and given a guided tour of the new unit, where he watched a music therapy session take place.
He also met two children from Stanley Park Junior School, who regularly visit the home with their school.
Following his tour Mr Burstow had tea with the residents and friends of the home, in the main lounge.
Tom Brake, MP for Carshalton and Wallington was also present at the opening.
He said: “Ryelands provide an outstanding service for their residents. I am certain that the new unit will also provide top quality care for dementia patients in safe and very attractive environment.”
