Police are searching for a man who indecently assaulted a woman on a train, after asking her to go home with him.

British Transport Police (BTP) have released this image of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident on Friday, April 15.

The 23-year-old woman, from Woking, was on the 10.42pm Waterloo to Basingstoke service when a man approached her and struck up conversation.

Detective Constable Andy Parkinson, of BTP’s public protection unit, said: “After a short while, his remarks became explicit and he asked her to go home with him to Surbiton - an offer which she politely declined.

“As the train pulled into Surbiton station, the man suddenly stood up and grabbed her, before touching her indecently.”

Officers have appealed for witnesses to the assault, or those who know the man in the CCTV, to call BTP on 0800 405040, quoting background reference 789 of 15/04/11.

Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

D Con Parkinson said: "This was a frightening and intimidating experience for the victim and this sort of behaviour is completely unacceptable."
