Business Students at Carshalton College are busy organising a Charity Art Auction taking place on Wednesday 18 May 6.00pm to 8.30pm. The free event will display artwork on sale to raise money for local charities, Croydon Carers and St Raphael’s Hospice.

The Sport Hall will be transformed into an art exhibition with work on display from the College’s current art students. Students of all ages from the BTEC Art & Design Courses will be producing work under the title Life with a range of paintings, ceramics, illustrations, fashion pieces and graphics.

The unique pieces of artwork are perfect decoration for offices and homes and the students hope to attract local businesses and residents to the exhibition.

Four students from the BTEC Business Diploma courses have been given the task of organising the event as part of their coursework. Dominik, Jodie, Jenny and Perry will be sending out the invitations, setting up the exhibition and raising as much money as possible for the two local charities.

They are aiming to raise £1,000 for invaluable services provided by the chosen charities.

Croydon Carers provide advice and support to carers, making their voices heard and raising their issues. St Raphael’s Hospice in North Cheam offers high-quality specialist medical and nursing care for people with cancer and other serious illnesses as well as providing support for their families.

The College has held the auction for a number of years but this is the first time it will be held at the College in their Pulse Health and Fitness Centre. Catering students will be offering drinks and nibbles throughout the night. The event is also being supported by the Music Technology students who are setting up and managing the PA system and providing performances during the evening.
