Hundreds of people have signed a petition for a new bus service to link Twickenham and Kingston along the A310.
Residents in and around Strawberry Vale, in Strawberry Hill, argued the direct bus route would improve the lives of schoolchildren, commuters and shoppers.
More than 300 people have signed the petition since its launch last week, including Peter Rogers, from Teddington, who said he believed the new bus would “benefit residents, businesses and the environment”.
A Transport for London spokesman said it had looked at the proposal but believed a new service would “duplicate existing provision”.
But he said: “TfL regularly reviews the bus network in and will monitor demand and capacity to ensure services continue to meet the needs of passengers.”
