A Save Our Libraries music festival at West Norwood Library sold out in just 40 seconds.
The event, which will take place next Saturday, sees cult indiepop star Jens Lekman headline a mini-festival.
There will be live music from 10 bands, and the event is aimed at raising awareness at the savage cuts being made to library services up and down the country.
No libraries in Lambeth have closed, nor are earmarked for closure, but the council is about to start a consultation with residents about the future of library services in the light of government cuts. The council says it wants to "use the Co-operative approach to provide a library service that meets residents’ needs and put the community at the heart of the service."
