Fifty revellers had their night cut short when a fire ripped through a three-storey bar in Clapham.
Eight fire engines and about 40 firefighters fought a blaze at the Circle Bar, in Clapham Road, after they were called at 9.19pm last night.
According to the London Fire Brigade, about 50 bar-goers had left the venue before crews from Clapham, Lambeth, Brixton, West Norwood and Chelsea stations arrived.
A spokeswoman for the London Ambulance Service said two ambulance crews, a hazardous are response team - which deals with large fires - and a duty officer were sent to the scene shortly after 11pm. However, no one needed treatment.
Firefighters spent more than four hours tackling the blaze, eventually getting it under control by 1.15am this morning.
All of the building’s floors and a roof was partly damaged by fire and smoke.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
