A woman who inflicted months of misery on her neighbours has been shut out of her home for three months after a court granted the council another closure order.

Kylie Ruskin played loud music, made excessive noise in her home and had arguments with her neighbours in Martin Crescent, Broad Green.

The 33-year-old and her family moved into the council house last February after moving to the borough from Kent.

By March the council began receiving complaints about her behaviour.

The antisocial behaviour team tried to convince Ruskin she should be more considerate to her neighbours but all attempts to get her to change her ways failed.

Croydon Magistrates court heard from PC Clyde Goddard, of the Broad Green safer neighbourhoods team, that Ruskin and her family were continually being brought to the attention of police.

Magistrates granted Croydon Council a three-month closure order and the home was boarded up and secured on the same day.

Councillor Dudley Mead, cabinet member for housing, said: “I hope that people are beginning to get the message that antisocial behaviour in council properties will not be tolerated.

“We can and will always take action like this to restore peace to streets blighted by selfish individuals.”
