Anthony Gardner's loan at Crystal Palace has been extended until the end of the season, according to his parent club Hull.

The central defender has made nine appearances for the Eagles since joining at the end of August, scoring once in the win at Norwich City.

His original loan ended after Monday's game with Preston but it now appears he will be staying in south London until the end of the season to compete with Paddy McCarthy, Claude Davis and Adam Barrett for a spot in defence.

A statement of Hull's website said: "Defender Anthony Gardner has agreed to stay on loan at Crystal Palace for the rest of the season."
