Police were called to a bar in the early hours of New Year’s Day, following a brawl.

The fight between two groups of men in the Aquum Lounge in Esher High Street started at about 1.45am, according to witnesses.

One witness told the Elmbridge Guardian the men were quickly ejected from the bar by a bouncer, who sat on one of them to restrain him until the police arrived.

She said: “The bouncer was properly holding one of the men down by sitting on him and he had both his arms pulled behind his back.”

Surrey Police officers arrived at the scene at about 2am and spoke with two men, who claimed they had been attacked by another group of men.

A spokesman for the police said no injuries were reported.

It was the second time police were called to the newly opened bar within two weeks, following an alleged assault on Saturday, December 19.

A spokesman for Surrey Police said officers attended the bar at about 1am after receiving a call from a member of public, but no further allegations or arrests were made.

Anyone with information regarding the incident should call Surrey Police on 0845 125 2222, quoting reference EL/11/11, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
