A bride-to-be is appealing for help after losing her bespoke engagement ring designed by her husband at a supermarket.

Nicola Lyons, 30, from Worcester Park, noticed that the one-carat diamond ring was missing when she arrived home from work just before Christmas on December 21.

The building engineer believes it slipped off her finger either on the Victoria to Norbury train or at Sainsbury's in North Cheam, at about 10pm.

She said: “I am still devastated and can't stop thinking about it. I know the last time I had it was on the train and I’ve searched everywhere I can think of. It was heartbreaking telling my fiance.

“I have been searching Sainsbury’s car park every night since I lost it and have put up poster’s at Norbury railway station.

“The staff all recognise me now as they keep seeing me with my torch each night.”

The ring, worth “thousands of pounds” was presented to Miss Lyons by Andy Bagshawe, 29, on a weekend break to Dubai in July.

After tea at the seven-star Burj Al Arab hotel, where guests and staff sang Happy Birthday, Mr Bagshawe, who works in the City, led her outside and proposed in scorching 50C heat.

Miss Lyons: “It was incredible. I was in such shock that I asked him if he could go back down on one knee again so I could remember it.

“But Andy spent years savings up for it, it’s so upsetting. Even though it’s insured, I just my ring back. Any replacement won’t be the ring Andy proposed with.”

The wedding will take place on May 26, 2012 - the seven-year anniversary of the day the couple first met in a Bournemouth nightclub in 2005.
