A nanny accused of trying to poison Ann Summers tycoon Jacqueline Gold with screenwash is due to appear in court tomorrow.

Allison Cox, a 33-year-old mother, was hired to look after Miss Gold’s twins Alfie and Scarlett, at her £6.5million home in Whyteleafe.

She was arrested at the mansion after being accused of spiking the businesswoman’s food with screenwash.

The matter came to a head when soup delivered to the 50-year-old's London office was branded “disgusting”.

An investigation revealed it contained screenwash.

Miss Cox, from East Grinstead, was charged on December 17 with three counts of administering poison with intent to annoy.

A police spokeswoman said: "The charges relate to alleged contaminated food consumed at a Whyteleafe address."

The nanny was hired to look after the CEO’s twins who were born in May last year after three failed attempts at IVF. Tragically, little Alfie died just eight months later from a severe brain condition.

The multi-millionaire, who is credited with transforming Ann Summers into a successful chain, lives at her Whyteleafe home with daughter Scarlett and her husband Daniel Cunningham, a city trader.

Her company Gold Group International includes high street stores Ann Summers and Knickerbox.

Miss Cox is due to appear at Redhill Magistrates Court to answer the charges tomorrow.
