Plans by Croydon Council to close Norbury Library have been met with anger by residents.
The library may be axed, along with five other local libraries in the borough, in a move proposed by the council in order to save up to £700,000.
Norbury Green Residents' Association have called a public meeting to protest the planned closure on January 13 from 7.30pm at Norbury Baptist Church, Semley Road.
Speakers on the night will include Sarah Bashford, Cabinet Member for Culture.
Mark Smith, chairman of the residents' association, said: "Norbury Library is the busiest of the libraries in terms of numbers, and has the biggest socio-economic impact.
"It's an important part of our community and one of the very few community services that Croydon Council provides to residents. We are working hard to save it.
"The library is more than just about books, it is a place to meet. There is a lot of anger in our area and I am trying to channel this into a targeted campaign to Save Norbury Library."
