Celebrities including Simon Pegg, Stephen Fry and Rio Ferdinand have joined a Twitter campaign to find a missing Tulse Hill girl.

Serena Beakhurst, 14, went missing on December 15 after leaving her home for a training course on Mitcham Road, Tooting.

Now, a host of celebrities have joined forces on social media tool Twitter, posting messages appealing for information which could lead to her safe return.

Former Prime Minister Gordon Brown's wife, Sarah, added her backing, saying: "Wouldn't it be great if Twitter could help find missing Serena Beakhurst?"

And others, including Hot Fuzz star Pegg and QI host Fry have also tweeted on the disappearance.

Serena is described as mixed race with light skin tone, 5 ft 3in in height, of slim build and with shoulder length hair.

When last seen, she was wearing a black leather jacket with a gold zipper.
