With 2011 here we ask the who’s who of Croydon to tell residents what their New Year’s resolutions are.

Croydon MP, Gavin Barwell said: “I’d like to get a bit fitter and lose some weight next year. I am also going to work hard on keeping Nestle in the borough as well as bringing in more Government jobs for the people of Croydon.

Croydon Council chief executive, Jon Rouse said: “My one wish is that QPR get promoted to the Premiership and that palace avoid relegation.

“My New Year’s resolution is to get home in time to put my two young daughters to bed more often.

Councillor Steve O'Connell, Greater London Assembly Member for Croydon and Sutton said: “I want to work even harder for the people of Croydon and Sutton to make their lives happier and more peaceful.

“I want to continue pestering the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, to put more resources into the boroughs and I hope to be able to start doing some voluntary work.

Croydon North MP, Malcolm Wicks said: “Croydon is faced with a difficult year ahead economically. My New Years resolution is to fight for justice and fairness and to stop cuts to public services. I’d also like to start writing again.

Borough Commander, chief superintendent Adrian Roberts said: “"My wish for 2011 is for the commitment and dedication of my staff, as part of this community, to be more publicly recognised. I'm convinced that in every hour that passes each day in Croydon, someone's life has been directly and positively impacted upon by one of my police officers or support staff.

"My resolution for my private life will be to try and see a bit more of my family and spend more time with them."

Leader of the Croydon Labour Group, Tony Newman, said: “I’d like to make sure, in light of the big public sector cuts, that Croydon manages to retain its sense of community. On a more personal level I’d like to see Fulham stay in the Premiership.”

Leader of Croydon Council, Mike Fisher, said: "I'd like to continue making sure people in Croydon get a good deal from the Council and everything they can from the Government.

"I'd also like to spend more time getting fit and losing a bit of weight."
