A man found hacked to death in his home yesterday may have been killed in revenge for fatally poisoning a teenager with ecstasy at a drug-fuelled party four years ago.

Daniel McGinty’s body was found in a pool of blood after three men forced their way into his house in Stockbury Road and launched into a ferocious attack with axes.

The 24-year-old was pronounced dead by paramedics at the terraced house in South Norwood at about 1.35am on Tuesday.

It is understood the other occupants of the house were attacked with a noxious gas before the horrific assault on McGinty.

Police are investigating the possibility of a link between McGinty’s slaying and the drug-related death of 18-year-old Carla Deary in September 2006.

Miss Deary, 18, died after taking a cocktail of drugs supplied by McGinty at a party in West Croydon.

Police were called to the party at 3am after Miss Deary, of Magpie Hall Lane in Bromley fell ill. She died an hour later with an overdose of MDMA in her bloodstream.

Croydon Coroner Roy Palmer recorded an open verdict on the death but agreed she had died after possibly unknowingly taking MDMA or ecstasy.

McGinty was convicted of supplying class A drugs to Miss Deary in November 2008 and jailed for 18 months in January 2009 at Croydon Crown Court.

It is understood McGinty was sharing the house on the estate at the time of his death with his girlfriend and her brother.

A large part of Stockbury Road remained cordoned off as forensic officers carried out a fingertip search of the street other scenes of crimes team members worked inside the three storey house.

A nearby alleyway, believed to be where the killers made their escape, was also cordoned off.

Gina Constantinou, who lives on the Stockbury Road estate, said: "It's normally a quiet estate. This is trouble that has come over from somewhere else, we don't get this kind of trouble with people around here."

Another neighbour, who did not wish to be named, said: "It's a bit of a rat run around here with lots of alleyways where people can quickly make an exit."

Gerry Graves, 73, who lives in Shoreham Close, within the cordoned off area, said: "It's really shocking this has happened. We had trouble here for a while but cameras were put in and that seemed to sort the people who were hanging around here."

Officers from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command are investigating and an incident room has been opened under Detective Chief Inspector Amanda Hargreaves.

There have been no arrests and police enquiries continue.

A police spokesman said: “It is too early to confirm any motives for this murder. We are looking at a number of lines of enquiry.”

TRIAL HEARS OF FREE DRUGS.

At McGinty’s trial the court heard a cocktail of ecstasy, MDMA and marijuana had been laid out for guests.

At the trial, guest Paul Vickers, said: “Everyone else was taking drugs at the party. There was a powder and tablets.

They were just open on the side.” Another guest, Danny Lane, told the court: “Carla came outside to talk to me and that’s when she told me she had taken MDMA.

“She kept asking me if she was going to be all right.”

After taking the class A drug, Miss Deary left with her boyfriend, before she was taken to hospital and died.

Miss Deary’s mother Maria says Carla was offered a modelling contract by Croydon agency Pulse, the same company which had murdered Sally Anne Bowman on its books – which she refused.

However, the teenager was offered a beautician apprenticeship which would have enabled her to follow her dream of becoming a make-up artist.

She attended Princes Plain Primary School and Ravensbourne Secondary Schools, both in Bromley.
