An angry commuter bottled an office clerk and left him bleeding outside Tesco in Thornton Heath, because the man had taken his train seat.
The 29-year-old victim was taken to Mayday hospital to remove the fragments of glass from his head.
Commuters on the 8pm train from Victoria on April 4 witnessed the pair arguing over a seat.
The victim got off at Thornton Heath Station but tried to escape to Brigstock Road Tesco after he spotted the man following him.
But he was attacked with a broken bottle and left lying outside the store's entrance while the assailant fled.
The attacker is described as about 35 years old, black, male, 5ft 11ins and was wearing a light brown leather jacket and dark trousers.
