A bridal company with stores in Epsom and Caterham has been on the receiving end of a further backlash from furious customers who say they are owed money.

Bridal Group Limited, which owns Infinita in Caterham and Bella Sposa in Epsom, was exposed by this paper for leaving brides-to-be out of pocket following a catalogue of errors with their orders.

The Epsom Guardian has been contacted by more customers complaining about the company, and its listed director, Lee Middleton.

Amanda Scott, from Shirley, who booked her wedding with Infinita last year, claimed she was left with a faulty dress on her wedding day.

She said: “They treated me with a complete lack of respect and I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.

“I have always kept my appointments and I paid everything on time, I even paid in full about a year before our wedding.

“The lining came away from my dress half-way through the day which made it feel very awkward walking around during the wedding, besides the fact it made me look stupid.

“They told me they would get back to me about the dress, but after the initial call, I received no further contact.”

However, Mr Middleton claimed that following an investigation carried out by his company and the dress manufacturers it was established that the dress was damaged “by the wearer standing on layers and causing stitching to break”.

He also claimed one of the dresses had been damaged with a pair of scissors. Another customer of Infinita, Maxine Chase, from New Addington, married in September 2009 but was taken to court by Mr Middleton in March that year after she was forced to postpone her wedding due to the death of the groom’s father.

Mr Middleton, who won the case, said that he had already made the order leaving Mrs Chase owing £1,500 to the company in costs and legal fees.

Mrs Chase said: “It was an absolute nightmare, he ruined what was meant to be the best day of my life.”

Mr Middleton responded: “Before any court action was taken, we tried on many occasions and left numerous messages for Maxine. There was no mention of a bereavement.”

Bridal Group Limited has since ceased taking on any more bookings, but has vowed to fulfill all existing orders.

Mr Middleton added: “The decision to cease taking new orders was not taken lightly and was made to protect the customer’s orders.”

It’s not just brides-to-be who have complained about their dealings with Lee Middleton.

Other wedding companies who have worked with his enterprises have complained about being owed money. An employee from wedding video supplier 20:20 videos, who says Mr Middleton owes the company £3,000, said: “I would strongly advise anyone not to have dealings with him.”

However, once again Mr Middleton claimed the problems lay with 20:20 videos, and he was not at fault.

Celebrated Affairs - organises independent wedding exhibition shows in Surrey, Middlesex and Berkshire - claims Mr Middleton owes them £1,300 after a cheque he wrote bounced.

On their website, Celebrated Affairs put the following statement on their website: “Bella Sposa Bridal in Epsom and Infinita Bride in Caterham Surrey – trading as the Bridal Group. Both companies are limited and managed by Mr Lee Middleton.

“In February 2010 the above company exhibited with us for the first time. Celebrated Affairs would like to confirm that this company will not be invited to participate in further wedding shows.”
