A jury has rejected a drug-dealer's claim that £4,220 in rolled-up bank notes found in his jacket was savings from a student loan to buy a car.
Student Brume Tadafe, 21, had admitted possessing skunk cannabis with intent to supply but denied the cash in his jacket pocket was drug profits.
A jury at Kingston Crown Court decided yesterday morning that the money was the proceeds of his dealing.
But they cleared him in relation to another bundle of £230 in cash found in a drawer in his bedside cabinet.
Tadafe, of Old Mill Court, Villiers Road, Kingston, was raided by police on May 19 who found notes with 11 names recording various amounts of money, as well as evidence from his Blackberry indicating he was a dealer.
He will be sentenced at Kingston Crown Court on December 10.
