A 24-year-old man has been stabbed several times while he waited at a bank queue to deposit his shop’s takings.

He was approached by another man yesterday (November 17) at around 1.55pm at HSBC Bank, on Streatham Hill, who demanded the cash bag he was carrying and tried to snatch it from him.

When he did no let go, a second man quickly joined them. The 24-year-old was stabbed a number of times, with a “pointed article”, to the arm and chest before he let go of the cash bag.

The culprits ran off towards Leigham Court Road, with the bag, which contained a large amount of cash.

The stabbed man was taken to a South London Hospital where his injuries were treated. He remained in hospital overnight.

Lambeth Officers are now appealing for information from witnesses to the robbery.

The first man is described as a black man, around 6ft tall, aged about 25 years and of slim build. He was wearing a dark hooded coat with the hood up.

The second man is described as a black man, about 5ft9in tall, aged about 20 to 22, wearing a black hat and coat.

Police are keen to trace anyone in the area who may have seen or heard something.
