Seven people, including four youths from Banstead, have been arrested after puppies stolen during a burglary were found in homes in Fleet and Banstead.

Burglars broke into a property in Barbel Avenue, Basingstoke, some time between 11pm on October 29 and 11am the following day.

Three female and two male Staffordshire Bull terriers, all just four weeks old, were snatched, along with a silver 42-inch JVC television and a silver laptop.

An 18-year-old boy, a 15-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl were arrested on suspicion of burglary. A 17-year-old girl was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods.

All four teenagers, who cannot be named for legal reasons, have been bailed until the end of December.

Hampshire Police confirmed that one male puppy was recovered from a home in Fleet but was unfortunately in poor health.

One female puppy was handed in to police and another was found at a home in Banstead. Both puppies have been reunited with their brother.

Police believe the two remaining puppies, a tiger brindle female and a white male with brindle patches on the eyes and back, might have been sold in or around the Banstead area.

Anyone with information about the burglary or the whereabouts of the puppies should call Basingstoke CID on 0845 045 4545.

Police are interested in hearing from anyone who may have been offered a Staffordshire bull terrier or “staffie” puppy for sale in Hampshire or Surrey.
