A Raynes Park rower has completed a gruelling three weeks of hard graft in an ambitious charity drive for Pakistan’s flood victims.
Azam Rehman, set himself a massive target of collecting £88k by rowing over 1,000 miles on his rowing machine over 21 days, with the help friends and supporters.
Among his helpers were AFC Wimbledon’s mascot, Haydon the Womble, and children from nearby schools who put in rowing shifts while Mr Rehman planed his machine outside Wimbledon station for a week.
A shattered Mr Rehman said: “I just want to thank everyone for their kind words of encouragement, which really help keep me motivated the whole way through.”
Mr Rehman is still collecting donations and has so far raised £997. To contribute visit justgiving.com/azamrehman.
