An RAF reservist flight lieutenant has been presented with a medal for his recent operational service in Afghanistan.
Flight Lieutenant Dwayne Dawson, 51, from Weybridge, was one of 12 soldiers from London's reserve forces to be presented with the medal at the London Mayor's Show on Saturday, November 13.
They paraded outside Mansion House in front of crowds of bystanders, before receiving the accolade from the newly inaugurated Lord Mayor of London, Alderman Michael Bear.
Flight Lieutenant Dawson has been a member of 600 Squadron Royal Auxiliary Air Force, based at RAF Northolt, since 2000, and took part in his second deployment from October 2009 to April 2010.
He said: "I was very honoured to be chosen to have my medal presented to me by the Lord Mayor it was a very proud moment for all of us.”
