Chessington and Hook FC are bidding for a massive redevelopment of their Chalky Lane ground with a new planning application.

Waterlogged pitches, incursions from motorcyclists, and problems finding space for their fans will be solved, if they can find the money to pay for it.

The main pitch will be lifted to stop it flooding and an astro turf pitch will also be built, along with 133 parking spaces.

Eric Wicks, press spokesman for the club, said: “We are looking to raise the pitch up and put in an astroturf for all weather pitches and we will have new facilities, changing facilities, a club house and a new car park.

“We are looking to put a one storey stand at either end of the pitch.

“I know they have been looking for funding from outside sources. People have come down and had a look and think it is a great idea.

"It will mean the club will move forward. At the moment if they went up in the division they are in they couldn't get promoted. They are held back by the facilities.

"If you look at Horley they got a grant about five years ago and a brand new club house. Sandhurst Town got a £100,000 grant from the Football Foundation."

Chessington and Hook FC was founded in 1921 and runs 13 teams including two senior and 12 junior sides.

Their senior side currently sit fifth in the premier division of the Combined Counties League and would be five successive promotions away from joining the Football League.
