Police are issuing CCTV footage from a robbery to coincide with a planned anniversary appeal which will be taking place on Friday 18 November.

Officers from Croydon police will be returning to Mersham Road and surrounding roads on 18 November 2010 to hand out appeal leaflets and speak with members of the public, local businesses and residents in a bid to get more information about a robbery that occurred in a local newsagents last year.

On 18 November 2009 at approximately 21:00hrs, three masked men forced their way into Ahmed Stores and demanded money. The store owner was punched in the head and threatened with a knife. £200 in cash was stolen as well as £200 worth of cigarettes.

One of the suspects is seen to be wearing a distinctive black coat, with a Nike logo on the bottom corner, which is visible on the CCTV images.

As a result of the attack, the victim required hospital treatment for head and facial injuries.

The victim then died some weeks later of causes unrelated to the robbery.

DC Louis Murphy of Croydon CID said: "We are asking anyone with information to come forward.

"There is every chance that the individuals responsible for this violent robbery have told somebody about their involvement and I would ask anyone who may know something that they have not yet shared with police to examine their conscience and come forward.”
