Cyclists were invited to get behind the wheel of a lorry in a bid to stop a spate of recent accidents.
Lambeth police organised the event on Streatham Common on Friday, October 1, after a number of road traffic accidents involving bikes, including four in the same morning in Clapham on September 24.
Cyclists and other residents could sit in the cab of the lorry to learn drivers’ difficulty in seeing them in their mirrors.
A police spokesman said: “Lambeth police are highlighting the need for safety awareness especially as the hours of daylight decrease.
“Cyclists are advised to wear a protective helmet and reflective clothing and to ensure they have front and rear lights on their bicycle.”
