A closely contested game at Wheatsheaf Park ended with Havant & Waterlooville going home with all three points.

There was an air of misfortune about Hawks first real goal chance, as Swans were forced to defend a dangerous deadball situation without big defender Marien Ifura, as blood was spotted on his face from a clash of heads 12 minutes earlier.

Louis Wells had to palm away an Ian Selley drive, but Swans hit back with a 25 yarder by Leroy Griffiths that grazed the Havant crossbar.

Selley was cautioned for a late challenge on Marc Charles-Smith, but Staines were disappointed that play was pulled back for a free-kick, when Ali Chaaban had been put clean through.

The second half saw the card count rise to seven, but the chances continued to come and go at each end, with Hawks increasing their fire-power by introducing former Swans favourite and long throw specialist Jon McDonald. Wells saved from Steve Ramsey and Wes Fogden, and Ifura did well to divert a Mustafa Tiryaki drive away, whilst Staines threatened with Ifura, Chaaban, André Scarlett, and Charles-Smith.

The only goal came with 13 minutes left, and was powerfully headed home by Tiryaki from a deep Sammy Igoe cross.

Staines tried to get back on terms, with sub Kayan Kalipha twice going close and Griffiths tireless in support, but Havant retained their 100 per cent record against the Thames-side club.
