Molesey crashed out of the FA Vase on Saturday and were made to pay for a lack of a predatory striker again on Saturday when for the second game in a row they found themselves playing well but not troubling the opposition defence at all.

The game started well for Molesey but lacking any real penetration the best chance with in the first 20 minutes was a Darius Heravi volley on the turn that was easily scooped up by the Egham 'keeper.

On the 20th minute however, Molesey should have taken the lead when Doug Ford put in a great low cross to Lewis Ackerman at the near post, but somehow Ackerman managed to bundle the ball wide from extreme close range.

Five minutes later Rob Lewis made the 'keeper make his only save of the game when an Ashley Lodge cross found Rob Lewis whose header was tipped just over the bar.

Four minutes after that Molesey were warned that Egham had a potent attack when the whistle went for a high foot after Egham seemingly had taken the lead following Pomroy's flick into the corner.

Molesey, who had dominated most of the first half were made to pay for their lack of a cutting edge just before the half time whistle when a mistake in the Molesey midfield allowed Egham striker Graves to run through on goal.

Andy Graves in the Molesey defence made a last ditch tackle and seemingly won the ball but after a delayed dive the referee awarded a freekick to the home side.

The referee obviously wasn't sure in his decision as he only decided to book Graves when he was clearly last man and if it was a foul it had to be a sending off.

Pomroy stepped up and only compounded the Molesey fans anger when he curled the ball into the top corner from 35 yards to give the home side the lead.

Molesey should have been level a minute after half time. Sam Lampard played a nice throughball to Ian Lishmund in the Egham box but he somehow conceived to totally miss hiss one on one chance and miss the target completely.

When Molesey knew that they would struggle to get any good opportunities this miss was a real heartbreaker for the away contingent.

Steve Webb decided after just six minutes of the second half to throw on James McShane and Paul Cross for the two ineffective Molesey strikers, the second game in a row where both strikers were hooked off well before full time.

But it was all for nought and Egham put the game well beyond the Moles in the 72nd minute when Graves collected the ball from a long goal kick and got just enough on the ball to beat Colin Harris and effectively end the game.

With Molesey looking unlikely to score any goals the game fizzled out after the second goal and Molesey were again made to pay away from home because of missing players and a lack of a cutting edge.

Molesey play their fifth away game in a row next Saturday at Epsom & Ewell.
