A school has revealed its plans for taking pupils close to the Pope during this week’s visit.

Students and staff from Ursuline High School in Wimbledon are set to attend three of the public appearances to be made by the pontiff - who will stay at the Apostolic Nunciature in nearby Parkside when he arrives in Britain for a four-day stay this morning.

Headteacher Julia Waters and head girl Emily Horton will attend a mass with the Pope in Westminster Cathedral on Saturday. Staff and students will also take part in Friday’s Big Assembly youth event in Twickenham and Saturday’s prayer vigil in Hyde Park.
