A man has been stabbed in the chest with a knife in his kitchen.
The 59-year-old man, named locally as John Holt, was found with the stab wound at his house on Gander Green Lane at about 4.35am on Thursday, August 19.
A police spokesman said a 41-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of assault and had been bailed until early September.
Mr Holt, who is believed to be a businessman and is estranged from his wife Samantha, was taken to a south-London hospital in a non-life threatening condition where he remains.
It is understood the two men are claiming the stabbing was an accident caused after Mr Holt slipped and fell.
A neighbour, who did not want to be named, said the house was the scene of a commotion several nights previously – also in the early hours.
She said: “There are always lots of people going in and out of the house.
“I do not even look now – I am used to hearing lots of noises from there.”
The police spokesman said an investigation was ongoing.
