A Kingston TV doctor completed a gruelling 300-mile charity bike ride recently, to help raise more than £22,000 for Action Medical Research.

Rob Hicks rode from London to Paris with 700 other cyclists, including fellow media doctor Dawn Harper.

It was the second time Mr Hicks, who regularly appears on This Morning, completed the ride as part of Team GP.

He said: “It’s not often you do something a second time and it turns out better than the first time round, but that was the case with the ride this year.

“It was fantastic cycling through beautiful French countryside again - on one day we even had to outran a thunder storm that was creeping up behind us.

“Once again the reception we received along the way and going down the Champs Elysees was tremendous, as has been the support of our sponsors to whom we are all very grateful.”

The London to Paris bike ride is expected to raise £1.1m for Action Medical Research, a charity funding research to help sick and disabled babies and children.
