A questionnaire to Hook residents has been criticised after it asked for their opinion about a new walk-in centre which will open in less than a week’s time.

The GP-led health centre at Gosbury Hill will be opened by Mallings Health on July 1 and offer services from 8am to 8pm and be open 365 days a year.

They are asking four questions about GP access but nothing about where it should be placed.

Former councillor Mary Reid said: “My fear is that NHS Kingston will find that most people have agreed with the four statements above, and will present that as evidence that the proposals are welcomed. Nothing could be further from the truth. Do they think we are fools?”

Colin Dance, chairman of the Orchard Practice Patients Group, said: “NHS Kingston are still trying to justify forcing the walk-in centre on local residents and patients.”

Space at Moor Lane Centre has not been properly explored, Mrs Reid claimed.

NHS Kingston said it had received a positive response.
