A funeral was held at St Paul's Church in Cheam for a popular, Metropolitan Police officer.

Croydon police constable Howard Jackson died at home after suffering from a brain haemorrhage on Tuesday, June 1.

The long serving officer of 22-years, who lived in Ewell, had been a police officer in Croydon since 2004 and was the borough's representative to the Police Federation.

Before joining Croydon Police he worked in the West End, central London, as well as Sutton Police and Lambeth.

Chief Superintendent Adrian Roberts paid tribute to the "true gent." He said: "Howard's passing has left a huge gap amongst his colleagues at Croydon.

"He was a practical cop and a true gent, who will always be remembered for his caring nature both inside and outside the service."

PC Jackson's funeral was given a full police escort and was attended by close friends, family and work colleagues from his extensive service within the force.
