Earlybird commuters may have been surprised to find around a hundred technophiles queueing outside Sutton’s mobile phone shops from 5am this morning.
The reason? The offical release of the new iPhone which has caught the imagination of millions of loyal fans around the world since its official announcement on June 7.
But despite their efforts some unlucky queuers left empty handed as supplies in each Orange, Vodaphone and O2 shop were limited.
David Turner, from Sutton, who arrived at 5.40am to find 15 people already in the queue, was one of the lucky ones who managed to get his hands the highly sought after phone.
He said: “I got up about 4am and was quite surprised to see people already ahead of me in the queue.
“The guys in the shop said there should be enough for everyone but some people seemed to miss out.
“The whole process of actually getting the phone was so slow but thankfully I managed to get 32gb version.”
