Young artists have displayed their work publicly at Thames Christian College.

The GCSE exhibition featured work by Year 11 students with influences ranging from personal culture to Whistler.

Emma Butler, student, said: “It has been inspiring to have such positive feedback from everyone on my work.

“I hope to go on to become a games developer, to combine my artistic ability with IT skills.”

The show, on June 20, gave the artists a chance to discuss their work and receive criticism.

Many viewers were said to be blown away by the students' ability.

Dave Adkins, deputy head and head of art at the college, said: “The students have done really well this year.

“They have extended their skills considerably making strong work that reflects their individual interests.”

Students use photo-montage and screen printing along with traditional fine art.

The college's art provision received an outstanding from Ofsted in April and last year 75 per cent of pupils achieved grade A or A* in art.

Last year they the won Good Schools' Guide Art Award in both boys and girls categories.

The College is an independent co-educational secondary school in Battersea with a strong Christian ethos.
