Surrey County Council’s chairman Geoff Marlow hosted a flag raising ceremony at County Hall in Kingston on Monday, June 21, dedicated to the brave men and women of Britain’s armed forces past and present.
The event was one of thousands expected to take place nationally throughout the week to mark Armed Forces Day, which takes place on Saturday, June 26.
Mr Marlow said: “I have nothing but the deepest respect and gratitude for the men and women of our armed forces who continue to serve with bravery and dedication in defence of our nation. Raising the Armed Forces flag is a way to show our thanks to those past and present who have contributed so much to the wellbeing and prosperity of our country.”
Representatives from the Queen’s Royal Surrey Regiment, the Royal British Legion, the Territorial Army and Surrey Air Cadet Force attended the ceremony.
