Dairy Crest staff and customers in Epsom have rallied round to raise more than £6,000 for charity.

Since the firm chose cancer group Macmillan as its charity partner, a range of events, including car washes to fitness challenges, have raised a total of £6,113 to help those affected by the disease.

The cash will help Macmillan provide grants to help with everyday living, such as heating bills, a family shop or a much needed break.

Dairy Crest customers can also get in on the act by making donations in special envelopes provided by their milkmen on their rounds.

Peter Dent, operations manager of Dairy Crest’s Epsom Depot, said: "It is great to be able to help Macmillan, and knowing where the money goes makes it all the more worthwhile.

"Our milkmen have the ability to help Macmillan to reach even more people affected by cancer on their rounds by raising awareness of how quick and easy it is to donate in the local community.

"We enjoy the fun that fundraising can bring too, so we look forward to doing even more over the next year."

And Macmillan cancer support corporate fundraiser, Joe Scheinkonig, said: "We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Dairy Crest who has helped raise this incredible amount.

"We really appreciate the hard work, enthusiasm and support from both staff and customers - it will make a huge difference to the lives of people affected by cancer."
