Smokers in Lambeth were being encouraged to quit the habit during a national awareness week.

The British Lung Foundation’s ‘Breathe Easy Week’ took place last week, targeting Lambeth where smoking is the biggest cause of premature death.

Smoking rates are relatively higher in more deprived areas, and Lambeth is the nineteenth most deprived borough in England and Wales.

Terri Forward, Smokefree Lambeth manager, said: “We know that people wanting to stop smoking want to stop in their own way. This why we offer choices of where you can go to get support to stop.

“If you want help to stop smoking you can visit your local GP or pharmacy, or come to one of our drop-in clinics or stop smoking groups.

Our aim is to make it as easy as possible to quit. We can provide smokers with information on all the different options available to help them stop.”
