A manager and one of his employees were assaulted by a gang of youths who stormed his fast food restaurant.

Asif Michael, 37, and a 56-year-old employee were set upon by hooligans after they refused to give them free pizza.

The attack, on Sunday, June 13, at 8pm, involved up to 10 youths who entered Papa John’s in Morden and began fighting with and intimidating employees.

One employee, 56-year-old Amin, suffered from a broken collarbone, bruising and cuts to his face.

However, Mr Michael who lives in Croydon, claims police told him they could do nothing until he passes them his CCTV footage, despite being told where one of the thugs lives.

Mr Michael also claims the investigating officer also told him he must gather statements from all of his employees and guarantee they will go to trial.

Mr Asif said: “I asked him why I should be doing this and why they weren’t going to the house and arresting the boys involved.

“He told me he needed all the CCTV for when it went to court which I can understand but when I asked him what was done before CCTV he told me not to tell him how to do his job.

“All I want is for these violent young men to be arrested and justice be served. I do not want these young men committing violent acts against someone else.

“I told my employees not to react to the boys and not to fight back because I was worried one of them might get arrested for defending themselves. Both times we were attacked the police did not show up. What can I do?

“The police even asked me to take my own statements from my employees. I don’t think they are taking this seriously at all.

Police denied asking Mr Michael to collect statements from his employees.

Investigating officer PC Moore of Wimbledon Police said: “We are really keen to identify the youths who have harassed and assaulted the staff at this busy premises. All calls are treated in complete confidence.”
