Brit hopeful Elena Baltacha blamed first round nerves after crashing out of Wimbledon at the first round stage.
Baltacha served for the match in the second set, only to eventually slump to a 2-6, 7-5, 6-3 defeat to Croatian Petra Martic.
She said: "I was nervous.
"I was in control and I tried to stay as relaxed as I could.
"But I'm human.
"I'm not a machine - things like that happen sometimes.
"She got a sniff and ran with it.
"I let her in, and she carried it away.
"I am disappointed but you cannot have things your own way all the time and I just have to move forwards."
