The England fan who burst into the team's dressing room after their shock World Cup draw with Algeria will stand trial for trespassing on Friday.

Pavlos Joseph from Crystal Palace could face up to a year in prison after stumbling upon semi-naked members of the England squad while apparently looking for the toilet.

The 32-year-old mortgage broker, who called the squad a "disgrace" during the surprise confrontation, claims a security guard had directed him towards the players' changing room.

Brigadier Sally de Beer, a spokeswoman for the South African police service, said: "The fan who entered the England team's dressing room on Friday night after the England-Algeria match, Mr Pavlos Joseph, appeared in the Cape Town magistrates' court for the second time today.

"The case was remanded until Friday for plea and trial. The case will be heard in Cape Town magistrates' court number 14.

"The bail conditions of Mr Joseph were extended – that is, his passport will stay in the possession of the South African police service and he may not attend any 2010 Fifa World Cup matches pending the finalisation of his trial."
