Snooker legend Jimmy White was in Balham to present a trophy to the winner of a tournament played in his dad’s honour.

Six times world championship runner-up Mr White grew up in Tooting and now lives in Epsom.

His father, Tommy White, was a member of the United Service and Services Rendered Club in Balham High Road.

Following his death, the club kept his memory alive by playing the annul pool tournament - the Tommy White Memorial Shield.

This year’s winner, Eric Jane, is pictured with Jimmy and club president John Brown.

The club is looking for new members, who can join subject to terms and conditions.

It also has a function hall available for hire. Anyone interested should call the club on 020 8672 4339.
