As much as I love the continental market coming to town, I do feel it is a little overpriced. And misleading.
I was about to treat myself to some nougat this past gloomy Saturday afternoon, as I saw the sign £2.50 for a 100 gms right next to these enticing slices of delicious confections. Only to be assured that a slice of this very treat would be close to £5.00. I am polite but firm, and move on. Its not about the money particularly, it is about being fleeced. The sweet pick and mix stall next to it is the same. It is blatently overpriced. I mean its all very pretty looking. Not like my mum’s local market that we have been going to for years, that really is what you see is what you get.
Still, I know which one I really prefer. The one that you can comfortably look around with your kids without being nervous of losing half your day's money on one purchase.
I know this market has been coming to Church Street for years, but am I the only one that resents it being so expensive?
