A man being attacked in Hersham Road, Walton, on Wednesday, June 16, was rescued when two have-a-go heroes intervened.
The incident took place along the Halfway at about 5.20pm, when a 30-year-old man was accosted by two teenage boys, who began punching him in the face.
Two male passersby decided to step in and help the man. One of them pinned one of the teenagers to the pavement, while the other man, an off duty fireman, chased the second attacker down the street.
The victim, who was hit in the head several times, sustained minor injuries, but did not need hospital treatment.

- Police have arrested a 16-year-old from Walton, on suspicion of assault and public order affray. He was later charged with both offences.
A 15-year-old boy also from Walton has been released on police bail until Saturday, June 26.
