A 19-year-old woman has been charged in relation to the death of an eight-month-old baby in West Molesey last December.

Shannan Woods, who lives in Pool Close, West Molesey, was charged today (June 18) with causing or allowing the death of a child under Section 5 of the Domestic Violence, Crime and Victims Act.

The baby girl died at about 6pm on Friday, December 18, last year, after being taken to St Peter’s Hospital in Chertsey from a flat in Timothy Place, Pool Close.

A police spokesman said: “Following the death of an eight-month-old baby at an address in West Molesey on December 18, a post mortem examination was held at Great Ormond Street Hospital on Tuesday, December 22, and revealed the initial cause of death to be immersion.”

Ms Woods will appear at Staines Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, July 6.
