Cornwall-based Irish folk musician Sarah McQuaid performs at the Ram Folk Club on Friday, June 25.

The singer and guitarist was born in Madrid and brought up in Chicago and uses the traditions of Spain, America, the UK and Ireland, in her music.

The Rough Guide to Irish Music described her songs as “warm as a turf fire and as rich as matured cognac”.

She will be playing tracks from her forthcoming album, The Plum Tree and the Rose, that features music from the 13th to 16th centuries and songs in old French, old Occitan and Latin.

Doors to the venue at the Old Cranleighan Club in Portsmouth Road open at 8pm and tickets cost £8, or £7 for members.
