Scotland may have failed to qualify for this year’s World Cup in South Africa, but that hasn’t stopped one group of Celtic fans joining in the party.
Members of Croydon’s official Celtic Supporters Club - the Bhoys of Croydon No 1 CSC - are throwing open their club room in the Broadgreen Tavern to fans of other nations on Saturdays during the competition.
Club chairman Ciaran Johnson said: “When Celtic play in international tournaments we get support from football fans of all nationalities – so it only seemed right to return the favour.
“We’ve already got out the cookery books for the matches on the 19th and found some great Cameroonian and Ghanian recipes.
“Danish meat balls will also be on the menu along with something appropriate for the Australians.
“Everyone is welcome to this - member, non-member and fans of all nationalities. As with our club sessions when Celtic are playing, children are also welcome.”
