The community has rallied round to offer its support after a children's nursery lost its premises in a fire at Sutton Common Park last week.

Teresa Fox made an appeal in last week's Sutton Guardian to find new premises for her nursery after the pavilion she ran it from was destroyed by a fire thought to have been started by a group of youths.

Following publication of an appeal in the Sutton Guardian she quickly received a number of offers of help.

Sergeant Dolice of Sutton's Safer Parks Team offered to help find new premises and to raise money for new toys. Brookfield Primary School and 4th Worcester Park Scouts also offered their premises.

Mrs Fox said: “It means so much to us that the community is willing to help so that we can all stay together.”

This is the third time the pavilion has been attacked by arsonists over the last 40 years. Friends of Sutton Common Park said: “It is a tragedy, after all the hard work by the council and the friends to get the Pavilion back into public use after the last fire, to be struck down yet again by suspected arson.”
